Miss Clark County’s Outstanding Teen Abby Plenge

MEXICO, Mo.- Preliminary competition in the Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen Pageant continued Thursday evening at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, just one night before the next Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen will be crowned.

Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen candidates were divided into two competition groups: the crown group and the sash group.  Members of the crown group competed in on-stage question and the evening wear portion of the competition. The evening wear and on-stage question accounts for 20% of the overall preliminary score.

The judges selected Miss Clark County’s Outstanding Teen Abby Plenge as the rookie evening gown and on-stage question winner. Abby chose a one-shoulder emerald green ballgown and answered an on-stage question regarding her social impact statement, “Eyes on the Board: Eyewear For Education,” an effort to provide eyeglasses for school age children. She is the daughter of Matt and Chrissy Plenge of Kahoka.

The judges selected Miss Branson’s Outstanding Teen Hannah Whatley-Blaine as the overall evening gown and on-stage question winner. Hannah selected a strapless hot pink ball gown with a ruffle side accent to wear on stage. She answered a question regarding her social impact statement, “Check-Up, Check-In Building Communities of Action,” which focuses on ending isolation of teens.  Hannah is the daughter of Nancy Whatley-Blaine and James Blaine of Webster Groves.

Members of the sash group competed in talent and fitness. The talent score accounts for 40% of the contestants’ overall score. The judges selected Miss Northwest’s Outstanding Teen Olivia DeGrave as the rookie talent winner. Olivia, the daughter of Jason and Jami DeGrave of Kansas City, sang “Hallelujah”. DeGrave also won the rookie award in Wednesday night’s preliminary competition as the on-stage question and evening gown winner.

The overall talent winner was Miss Flower City’s Outstanding Teen Mallory Sublette. Mallory, the daughter of Brandon and Jessica Sublette, performed a high-energy jazz dance. Sublette won Wednesday night for the overall evening gown and on-stage question competition.

Results of the preliminary fitness competition will not be announced until Friday night, after the crowning of the next Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen.  After being crowned, the new Miss Missouri’ s Outstanding Teen will immediately begin preparations to compete on the national stage in Orlando later this summer.
