St. Louis sluggers Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado led the charge. Goldy hit a two run-home run in the first inning and Arenado crushed a go-ahead two run bomb in the sixth.

The Cardinals and Brewers play the series finale this afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals were shut out 5-0 by the Los Angeles Angels last (Wednesday) night at Angels Stadium.

The Royals nine-game tour of the West Coast was largely successful.

Kansas City went 5-4 in San Francisco, Oakland and Anaheim for its first winning road trip of the year.

Kansas City has the day off today and return to the K tomorrow (Friday) to start a series with the Oakland A’s.
