KXEO Sports Report 8/22/22

Tonight St. Louis is in Chicago against the Cubs at 7:05 pm.  Jordan Montgomery vs Drew Smyly  pitching to start.

The Chicago White Sox are in Kansas City this afternoon at 1:10 PM, bringing right-hander Michael Kopech to left-hander Daniel Lynch.

For the 7th time in a row the Cardinals beat the Diamondbacks 6 – 4 on Sunday.  Lars Nootbaar hit his first career lead-off homer.  Behind 4-3,  Pujols loaded the bases just in time for Arenado to drive in the runs that put the Cards ahead, and in the eighth Tommy Edman added a run-scoring single for good measure. 

The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Sunday. Harold Ramirez had three hits and drove in two runs. 

Kansas City right-hander Zack Greinke left the game after four innings due to forearm cramping and was checked by a trainer, then replaced by Jose Cuas to start the fifth.

The University of Missouri Department of Athletics announced the inaugural Truman’s Trot, a 5k and fun run through campus on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, to benefit the Celebration of Women’s Sports Fund.

The 5k will start at 8 a.m. with the fun run following at 9 a.m.

Registration for both events is open now and racers are encouraged to sign up online. 

All proceeds from the event will benefit the athletic department’s new fund to enhance the experience of Mizzou female student-athletes.
