Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program to Hold Drill in Moberly Wednesday

Several National, State, and Transportation agencies will be conducting a routine transportation accident training exercise in the Norfolk Southern Moberly Railyard tomorrow morning. The scenario is meant to prepare teams for the possibility of a vehicle striking a moving railcar carrying Naval spent nuclear fuel.

Since the mid-1990s, the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program has held routine emergency preparedness exercises involving a multitude of agencies of all levels.

The exercise will keep the area busy from approximately 9 am to noon. There will be no release of radioactivity or other harmful substances.
