Hunger Action Month is Needed and Appreciated

Phillip Iman, the Director of the Laura Miller George Help Center here in Mexico is full of praise for the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri who provide most of the food distributed locally at no cost, not even for delivery.

Iman tells us that the Help Center food bank services about 4000 people in Audrain County, a full 16-17% of our population. He also says that the number of families supplied has gone up by record amounts every month for almost the last year.

the MU Food Assistance & Hunger in the Heartland 2021: State Report for Missouri marks the first time all six Missouri food banks partnered to gather quantitative data about the statewide impact of hunger.

Some of the statistics include the number of children and elderly affected, employment and income, veteran status, health, and trade-offs.
