Mexico Native Heads To National Theatre Competition

A Mexico native is now Washington, D.C. bound to perform at a national theatre competition.

Kylie Yeast won the regional round of the Irene Ryan Foundation Scholarship competition in Des Moines Friday night, one of only 8 around the country to win.

She now goes on to present her audition material at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts for a chance to win one of two national scholarships from the foundation as part of the National American College Theatre Festival.

250 began the regional competition in Des Moines.

While in Washington, Yeast will attend master classes and discussions with professional theatre artists, attend concert readings of award-winning plays, and visit D. C. theaters.

Yeast is a student at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.
