Mexico Public Safety Report 2/13/23

Mexico Public Safety responded to the following calls for service Friday through yesterday (Sunday):

Friday:

  • Non-injury accident at Fairgrounds Park
  • Vehicle break-in in the 300 block of East Breckenridge

Saturday:

  • Sexual assault in the 200 block of North Grand
  • 2 burglaries, neither in progress in the 400 blocks of South Abat and Bass
  • Found property reported at MPSD Headquarters
  • Child abuse or neglect reported at MPSD Headquarters
  • Es-parte violation in the 700 block of North Clark
  • Physical domestic in the 900 block of Lakeview Road
  • Shots fired in the 800 block of West Monroe

Also on Saturday, officers arrested 28-year old Brendan L. Korte for violation of an order of protection.

Sunday:

  • Stealing or theft in the 600 block of Park

 

Also on Sunday, officers responded to Scooter’s Coffee in the 2900 block of South Clark for a non-injury accident.

73-year old Betty D. Cline of Mexico attempted to leave and drove her 2004 Jeep into the business.

Scooter’s is closed temporarily due to the damage to the building.

 

On Saturday, officers began looking for 65-year old Randy Kniepfel who did not report to work as scheduled.

Sunday evening around 5:15, Kniepfel returned home safely, saying he willingly left town with people he had just met but they were unable to bring him back to Mexico.

He then had to find alternate transportation.

Mexico Public Safety is investigating what went on during those dates.
