No injuries reported following two grass fires in Mexico, last (Sunday) night. Mexico Public Safety responded to the area of US Highway 54 near the Audrain Road underpass just before 11, on Sunday night.
Personnel found about 1/10 of an acre of the MoDOT right of way burning with fire moving quickly towards a fence line and private property.
The fire was contained and extinguished prior to reaching the private property.
Mexico Public Safety responded to a second grass fire around 10:15 last (Sunday) night in the 1500 block of West Street.
Responding personnel found that a resident was burning some trash when the fire spread beyond her control.
The fire was extinguished before any additional property was damaged.
