Two Mexico Lady Bulldogs Earn First Place Finishes At Hallsville Invitational

The Mexico High School girls wrestling team and the Mexico Middle School girls wrestling team competed together at the Girls Hallsville Invitational on Monday, November 27, 2023.

Lilly Debo took first place in the 110 pound bracket.

And it was Alexus Johns with a first place finish in the 235 pound bracket.

Mexico High School girls wrestling coach Tony Senor says “This was a great meet for us to sharpen our skills and test our medal after Thanksgiving Break.

This was a program first with Mexico High School Girls wrestling at the same event as the Mexico Middle School Girls.

It was very unique to see the younger girls interacting with the older girls.

They supported each other in their matches on and off the mat.

It was a special thing to witness as the Head Coach of the girls program.

All 4 girls coaches were there and we had an opportunity to be a team.

It was a special night for our program.”

Alizabeth Welch and Abby Bowen secured a 2nd Place Finish.

Abby Seibert got to compete with one of the best girls at her weight from Kirksville and she did not give up a pin.

Tessa Higgins had a huge come from behind win against Kirksville by pinning her opponent in the 3rd period.
