Federal Judge Sentences Centralia Man In Connection To January 6 Riot

A Centralia man has been sentenced in connection with the January 6th riot during the breach of the U.S. Capitol.

A federal judge sentenced 37-year-old Jerod Bargar, to five years probation, six months of home confinement and a fine of $4,000 for carrying a firearm to the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Bargar pleaded guilty to one felony count of entering and remaining in a restricted building on grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon on June 8, 2023.

According to court documents Bargar traveled to Washington, D.C., by car with a friend to participate in the Stop the Steal rally.

After the rally, Bargar and his friend walked to the U.S. Capitol building, entered on to the restricted Capitol grounds, with a loaded 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol and participated in the ongoing riot.

Barger did not have a license to carry a firearm in Washington, D.C., and the firearm was not registered in Washington D.C., as required by law.
