Group Of Citizens Request State Audit Of Mexico School District

A group of concerned citizens in Mexico are requesting a State Audit of the Mexico 59 School District.

According to a press release sent to KXEO, due to recent changes with the Mexico 59 School District, a group of concerned citizens came together and requested an Audit of the district with the Missouri State Auditor.

According to the news release, the Audit request was led by Dusty Blue with hopes of providing peace and transparency to the new leadership that will be hired.

The Audit will require 800 signatures with each signature residing in Audrain County, a taxpayer, registered voter, and voted in the last Gubernatorial Election which would have been the 2020 Election.

If enough signatures are collected to move forward with the audit the total cost is estimated anywhere between $50,000 and $80,000.

That cost would then be charged back to the Mexico School District.

KXEO News has reached out to the Mexico School District for a response.

That response is expected to be released soon.
