Mexico Bulldogs Baseball Kicks Off Season At Wood Bat Tournament

The Mexico High School baseball team traveled to Mountain View, Missouri for the 2024 Wood Bat Tournament to kick of the season on Friday March 15, and Saturday, March 16.

Mexico played four games in total.

Game one saw Mexico lose 1-0 to the Houston Tigers.

Brady Fox went six innings and struck out 11 batters.

Chance McCarty accounted for the only Mexico hit.

Game 2 saw Mexico lose to Portageville 9-4 in extra innings.

Sam Ryan was on the hill for Mexico and went five innings and struck out six batters.

Jaydon Eldridge doubled to tie up the game late and sent into extra innings.

Game three Mexico battled former State Champs the Ellington Whippets.

Austin Maxwell provided strong pitching for the Bulldogs.

Maxwell struck out nine batters and only gave up one hit and two runs over six innings.

The Bulldogs offense came alive with 10 hits.

Drew DeMint, Tyson Carr, and Chance McCarty multi-hit games.

Mexico lost 4-3.

The final game saw Mexico’s offense produce the first victory of the year with a 9-4 win over East Carter.

The Bulldogs collected 11 hits in total.

Landon Hilderman and Austin Maxwell each had three and Drew DeMint and Brady Fox each had two RBI.

The Mexico defense turned two double-plays and Landon Hilderman earned the win on the mound with Drew DeMint pitching in relief.

Up next Mexico is scheduled to play Macon on the road.
