Solar Eclipse Today

The much-talked-about solar eclipse is here. It actually begins at 12:42pm today, with the peak event at 2 p.m.

Southern Missouri is being tabbed as one of the best areas to watch the eclipse in the central US because of favorable weather conditions, with thousands of people making the trek towards the Bootheel.

The National Weather Service says to expect some high wispy clouds along the Mississippi River basin today which could interfere with eclipse viewing.

In the Country 96 listening area it will be a partial eclipse.

Even with a partial eclipse, however, it is a good idea to bring pets inside and lower the shades or darken the room as much as possible to make it appear as normal as possible.
