Man Found Dead Following Police Standoff At Sturgeon Trailer Park

One man is dead following a standoff at a trailer park in Sturgeon during the afternoon hours of Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Boone County Sheriff’s Captain Brian Leer confirmed the suspect was found deceased upon entry of the trailer around 7pm.

No officers were injured in the shootout that started around 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon.

Leer said the Missouri State Highway Patrol will investigate if the suspect was killed by law enforcement or if he shot himself.

The man’s identity has not been released.

Sturgeon police responded to the 100 block of East Canada Street just before 10am on Tuesday morning for a domestic assault call.

According to reporting from ABC 17 News, authorities could be heard earlier in the day calling for Damion Linder to leave the house.

Charges of second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and illegal gun possession were filed against Linder on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

According to records from the Missouri courts and Department of Corrections Linder is on probation for concealing a felony and interference with custody out of Audrain County.

Officers later called in the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Hallsville police to assist in the investigation.

The Highway Patrol was also on scene during the standoff. Shortly after 2pm shots were fired toward deputies.

No one was struck, but a tactical vehicle was hit.

Shots were fired again 2:30pm, 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
