Mexico Public Safety Responds To Reports Of Downed Power Lines During Tuesday’s Thunderstorms

Mexico Public Safety responded to three reports of power lines being down and located a fourth while on patrol after a brief period of strong wind and heavy rain moved through Mexico during the evening hours of Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Mexico Public Safety the reports came in around 6pm on Tuesday.

All were in the north central part of town and due to falling limbs and trees.

Mexico Public Safety Department says they worked to keep people and vehicles from the lines until Ameren responded to make the situations safe.

Mexico Public Safety also responded to the area to clear limbs from the roadway.

The issue caused numerous power fluctuations and some prolonged power outages in the areas of the Central Business District and West Plaza.

Ameren had most power in Mexico restored by around 8:30pm, but are currently working in the 500 block of North Jefferson to make permanent repairs.

There were no injuries from the incident.
