City Of Auxvasse Relieves Fire Chief Of Duties

The City of Auxvasse will receive mutual aid from neighboring fire protection districts after the city fired its volunteer fire chief on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

According to a news release from the City of Auxvasse, the decision to relieve Fire Chief Rebecca Stone of her duties was unanimous by the city council.

The statement comes following a statement Stone made on Facebook saying she and the entire department were fired after the station door codes were allegedly changed without notice.

The City of Auxvasse says Stone was the only person relieved of their duties.

The city said in the news release it will look for a new fire chief through multiple channels to restore the department.

Until a new chief is found, neighboring fire stations within Callaway County will provide mutual aid to Auxvasse.
