Jury Trial Set For Madison Man Accused Of Killing A Monroe City Woman

A jury trial is set for a man accused of a killing a woman in Monroe County in 2021.

66-year-old Lyle Miller of Madison, is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

He is being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.

A pretrial conference is scheduled for Friday, February 14th, 2025.

The jury trial is set to begin on Monday, March 17th, 2025.

Miller is accused of killing 88-year-old Betty Hayes in December 2021.

According to court documents a witness told law enforcement that that they saw Miller driving away quickly from Madison the night Hayes went missing.

Her remains were eventually found in a pond.

Court documents allege Miller was upset with Hayes because she owed him money for work he did.
