Mexico Man Arrested For Negligent Burning Following Grass Fire On South Clark Street
A Mexico man is facing several charges after an arrest in connection to a grass fire during the early morning hours of Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 3000 block of South Clark Street just after 2 on Saturday morning.
Responding personnel found a fire moving through a field.
The fire was extinguished after a about 1/4 acre had burned.
No other property was damaged in the fire.
According to the news release, officers spoke with 37-year-old Anthony J. Risher, of Mexico who was at a nearby business and appeared intoxicated.
Mexico Public Safety says Risher indicated he was smoking in the field and could have caused the fire.
While speaking with Risher, Mexico Public Safety says he became argumentative and refused to leave the area.
Risher was arrested for Negligent Burning or Exploding and 2nd Degree Trespassing.
Risher was processed at Mexico Public Safety Department and taken to the Audrain County Jail for the offenses.
