Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson from Mexico High School tennis finished third in doubles of the District Tournament held in Hannibal over the weekend.

Mexico head coach Kim Costley says “This was the first year of the new district format.

Class 1 now has 9 or 10 teams per district, with 18 singles and 18 doubles entries, and the first and second place finishers go directly to the state tournament.

The tournament lasted 2 days. Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson made a strong push but finished 3rd, just missing a state doubles entry.”

Mexico starts Team Districts at Palmyra on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

 

The Mexico High School girls golf team will play in the District Tournament on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Regan Craig, Alexis Henderson, Bentley McCarty, Ella Connell, and Brenda Matuz-Sanchez will be competing for a trip to State for the Lady Bulldogs.

The tournament is being held at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Belton, Missouri.

The Missouri Tigers football team moved up in the ranks of the coaches poll after defeating UMass 45-3 on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

The Tigers climbed two spots in the Coaches Poll yesterday (Sunday), jumping to the 16th spot.

Missouri is now 5-1 on the season and will face unranked Auburn on Saturday in Columbia during its homecoming game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers cruised to a 9-0 shutout win over the New York Mets last (Sunday) night at Dodger Stadium to kick off the National League Championship Series.

Former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six in his start last (Sunday) night.

The two teams will run it back this (Monday) afternoon before making the trek across the country for Game 3 on Wednesday in New York.

In the NFL yesterday (Monday) it was Cincinnati beating the New York Giants.

Atlanta over Carolina.

Pittsburgh bested the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chargers beat the Broncos.

The Texans handled New England.

And Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones turned 82 yesterday (Sunday).

His team was blown out 47-9 by the Detroit Lions. It was the worst home loss in the Jerry Jones era.

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets will clash on Monday Night Football tonight (Monday).
