A Callaway County Deputy is continuing his road to recovery after being involved in a shooting on Monday morning on I-70 that left a suspect dead.
The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office shared the progress of Deputy Gardner Pottorf yesterday (Friday) afternoon, saying he took his first steps for physical therapy.
The sheriff’s office said it is hopeful that Pottorf will be moved out of the Intensive Care Unit by this weekend.
Pottorft and Corporal Justin Bax pulled over Jonathan Beason on Monday for speeding on I-70.
While they were attempting to detain Beason, there was reported exchange of gunfire, and Beason died at the scene.
Both deputies were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Bax was released from University Hospital on Wednesday.
