No injuries reported after a Mexico School District had to stop on the side of the road in Mexico during the afternoon hours of Monday, November 4, 2024.
According to the Mexico School District there was a thermal event coming from the engine compartment in the 1700 block of County Road 316 around 3:40 on Monday afternoon in Mexico.
Six students were on the bus at the time and according to the district the bus driver quickly stopped the bus and got the kids to safety.
The bus driver then put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
Little Dixie Fire Protection District responded to the incident.
Another school bus came and picked up the students.
Parents have been notified.
The Mexico School District reminds citizens that all buses on routes receive daily trip inspections.
The total dollar amount of damage is unknown at this time.
