Mexico Man Accused Of Running Into A Building And Hitting Several Patrol Cars With Vehicle

A Mexico man was taken to the hospital with injuries after an incident in Mexico where he is accused of driving into a building and several Mexico Public Safety patrol cars during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 11, 2024.

According to a news release from Mexico Public Safety, the department became aware of a vehicle driving into a building in the 200 block East Liberty shortly before 3:30 this (Thursday) morning.

Mexico Public Safety reports the vehicle drove away and at about the same time a black, 2011 Ford Escape, driven by 52-year-old Leon McKinnon of Mexico, arrived at Mexico Public Safety Department and collided with two parked patrol cars.

The news release reads It was determined McKinnon was also the person who struck the building and he appeared to be having an issue involving his mental health.

The building and all vehicles were damaged.

McKinnon had minor injuries and no one else was hurt.

McKinnon was taken to University of Missouri by Audrain Ambulance District while being accompanied by Mexico Public Safety.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.
