Mexico High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams had a clean sweep of Macon on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
The Mexico boys beat Macon 64-32.
All 13 players contributed in the win.
Jaydon Eldridge made three-three pointers and had 13 points.
Charlie Fisher had 11 points and 6 assists.
Kaden Benne put up 11 points on three made three pointers.
James Matthews finished with 9 points and 4 steals.
PJ Perkins had 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Hunter Bickell with 5 points.
Austin Maxwell had 3 points.
Holden Aulber put up 2 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
Kinser Groves had 2 points.
Mexico head coach Darren Pappas says “After a slow first quarter we picked up our defensive intensity and the guys generated some turnovers. We did a good job of moving the basketball and penetrating Macon’s zone which created opportunities to make shots from the perimeter. As a team we shot 10/16 from 3. It was good to see our bench produce as well.”
The victory moves the Mexico boys to 9-5 overall.
The Mexico Lady Bulldogs pulled off a thrilling 70-68 overtime victory.
Claire Hudson reached a career milestone in the 3rd quarter as she now has over 1,000 points in her high school basketball playing career.
Claire finished the evening with 21 points.
Grace Hudson had 18 points.
Alyssa Miller put up 10 points.
And McKenizie Taylor had 10 points.
Mexico Lady Bulldogs head coach Makenzie Mudd says ” We went back and forth the whole game. It was physical on both ends and we had a lot of great teamwork moments to find scoring opportunities. We were down with only a few minutes left in the 4th and could have easily given up but we were able to buckle down and force overtime with a high 3 pointer by Alyssa Miller with 5 seconds left.”
Mexico Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-6 on the season.

North Shelby girls beat Mark Twain 37-29.
South Shelby girls bested La Plata 71-51.
The Montgomery County girls took down the Bowling Green Lady Bobcats 50-32.
The Glasgow boys lost to Slater 69-61,
New Bloomfield boys outlasted Fayette 74-72.
Southern Boone girls lost to Licking 49-43.
Fayette girls dominated New Bloomfield 54-8.
Jefferson City boys had an overtime victory over Helias.
Hallsville boys earned the road win over Capital City.
Centralia girls rallied back in the second half to defeat Boonville.
Harrisburg boys took down South Callaway 76-64.
Centralia boys bested Eldon 80-60.
Moberly boys defeated Fulton 64-44.
North Callaway boys upended Wellsville-Middletown 76-33.
North Callaway girls beat Wellsville-Middletown 57-37.
The Fulton girls defeated Moberly 44-33.
No. 22/24 University of Missouri men’s basketball saw its four-game winning streak in SEC play snapped on Tuesday night, falling at Texas, 61-53. The Tigers are now 15-4 on the season and 4-2 in conference play, while the Longhorns improve to 13-6 and 2-4 versus league foes.
Mizzou Leaders
Tamar Bates (Kansas City, Kan.) was the lone Tiger to score in double figures during the defensive battle, tallying 10 points.
Trent Pierce (Tulsa, Okla.) and Anthony Robinson II (Tallahassee, Fla.) both added eight points on the night. Caleb Grill (Wichita, Kan.) and Mark Mitchell (Kansas City, Kan.) led the team with six boards apiece, while Tony Perkins (Indianapolis, Ind.) had a team-best three assists.
Game Recap
A defensive battle from the start, the Tigers forced the Longhorns to miss their first eight attempts on the night but Texas limited the damage by holding Mizzou to just 2-of-13 shooting. Overall, MU did not allow the hosts to make a field goal for more than eight minutes to start the game but a tight opening period finally broke open for Texas with back-to-back 3-pointers for a 30-20 lead. The Tigers closed the gap slightly by the break as UT held a 32-25 lead at the half.
The Tigers did not waste any time closing the gap in the second period. Mizzou scored 13 of the first 17 points in the stanza to open up a 38-36 lead with 15:08 remaining. The Tigers’ advantage grew to as many as four points, 45-41, and Mizzou held its advantage until just more than four minutes left in regulation. Texas, however, took advantage of its opportunities late on both sides of the court, holding the Tigers without a field goal for more than five minutes during a 13-2 run en route to the 61-53 home win.
Team Stats
Both teams shot just over 30 percent from the field with Mizzou making 31.3 percent and Texas 34.0 percent. The teams also combined to make 8-of-42 3-point attempts on the night. The different in the game, though, was second-chance points as Texas finished with a 20-4 advantage in the eight-point winning effort.
