Cold Temperatures, Snow And Impacted Travel Conditions Expected In Latest Winter Storm
Cold temperatures and two rounds of snow are expected in the listening area on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025.
According to the National Weather Service the first round of snow this morning is on the lighter side.
It is expected to linger into the day and become scattered snow showers.
By late afternoon moisture will surge into the area and that will bring the next round of snow.
That snow will primarily fall on the southern half of the region and for southern parts of Missouri.
Snow is expected to be moderate to heavy at times and accumulate quickly through the evening.
Snow will come to an end overnight.
A wide range of snow totals are expected across the region today.
Areas north of Highway 24 will pick up light totals of a dusting to 2 inches.
2-4 inches of snowfall is expected in the Columbia, Mexico, and Moberly areas.
Some impacts to travel are expected during today (Tuesday), but the worst of the conditions are not expected until the evening and overnight hours.
These issues will continue into Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, as road treatment is not very effective during bitter cold temperatures.
