The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has authorized an Emergency Fish Salvage Order for Lakeview Park Lake in Mexico, which is effective immediately and will continue until August 31st.
The City of Mexico is draining the lake to replace a culvert on Fairground Road, and the decreased water levels and high summer heat have resulted in low oxygen levels, which make sustaining fish populations in the lake impossible.
During the order, anglers may take all species of fish from Lakeview Lake, excluding endangered species.
The order also called for temporary suspension of length limits, daily limits, and possession limits for all the fish in the lake.
Anglers between the ages of 16 and 65 must still hold a valid Missouri Fishing permit to be able to fish.
Normal fishing regulations will resume September 1.
