Columbia Parking Meter discussion

The District, a group of businesses, residents and property owners in downtown Columbia, and the Columbia City Council set to meet next Tuesday to discuss a price increase proposal for downtown Columbia parking meters.
The proposal will increase meter prices from 60 cents an hour to $1 an hour, a 40-cent increase. This comes on the heels of the city’s Public Works Department updating, and generally extending, time limits to meters throughout the downtown area, which started in July.
The District is said to not necessarily be for or against the price increase but would like to be able to discuss the topic with the council.
For many the bigger issue is the lack of parking availability.
