Train accident in Audrain County

A Canadian Pacific-Kansas City train hit a 2015 Jeep Wrangler in Audrain County Monday afternoon, leaving the driver of the Jeep with moderate injuries and the vehicle totaled, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just north of Sturgeon on Audrain County Road 165 around 3:45 p.m. at a railroad crossing with stationary signs displayed, according to the crash report.

The Jeep was southbound and was thrown off the side of the road after impact, with the train coming to a controlled stop, according to the crash report.

The driver of the Jeep, a 64-year-old woman from Centralia, was taken to University Hospital by ambulance, the report said. The 44-year-old train operator was not injured.
