Mexico headed to MOCO Championship

The Mexico boys basketball team is headed for the sixth straight Montgomery County Invitational Championship game after beating Bowling Green Thursday night, 63-42.

The Dawgs looked a little ragged in the first half and were spurred by Kaden Benne, who scored 19 of his game high 23 points in the first half, including all of Mexico’s 12 first-quarter points.

MHS led at the break 27-25 as Bowling Green had 10 from Jack McDannald, but he would go scoreless in the second half. He still led the Bobcats in scoring.

In the third quarter Charlie Fisher found his shot as he hit three treys in the frame enroute to a 20-point night.

James Matthews and Brady Thoenen each scored six for Mexico.

MHS went 10-of-15 at the free throw line, while BGHS was 7-of-19.

Mexico plays the winner of Fulton and Montgomery County at 6pm on Saturday.
