Room at the Inn gets donations
Room at the Inn in Mexico received a nice early Christmas gift over the weekend. The local Slumberland Furniture store donated 15 mattresses and bed frames, and the Mexico Jaycees donated new sheets for each bed Saturday morning.
All of the beds will be used for transitional housing.
A new look for the facility, which opened for longer hours this weekend because of the brutally cold weather, will soon be coming to the facility as it’s scheduled for a makeover.
The shelter received a $350,000 Department of Economic Development grant late in 2024 for renovations.
The project hasn’t gone out for bids yet, but has to be done and completed by the end of August.
