Mizzou starting linebacker Josiah Trotter will miss the Gator Bowl after undergoing surgery for a minor knee injury sustained in Missouri’s 31-17 season-finale win over Arkansas.

Brett Norfleet, the starting tight end, will also miss the Gator Bowl after undergoing surgery on an injured shoulder he sustained in early November.

The status of Zion Young is up in the air. Young was arrested on suspicion of DWI early Saturday morning. “Disappointed with the actions of Zion Young and the decision making that he had as a team captain and player,” Drinkwitz said. “We love Zion, we will handle all discipline internally.”

The St. Louis Blues claimed forward Jonatan Berggren off waivers from the Red Wings on Tuesday afternoon, adding a healthy forward to fortify an injured group up front. Berggren, 25, had two goals and four assists in 15 games for Detroit this season before he was waived Monday.

 

It was a milestone night for Community R-6 girls basketball head coach Bob Curtis.

On Tuesday, everything lined up perfectly as the Lady Trojans defeated Sturgeon 45–26, giving Curtis his 400th career win.

Bob Curtis has been at Community since 2005-06 and has led the Lady Trojans to nine district titles, six conference titles and two Final Fours. Past and present players recognized him at a postgame ceremony and reception during the varsity boys game.

The Mexico boys and girls teams traveled to Kirksville last night for a boys girls varsity double-header,
The evening started with the Lady Tigers taking a dominating 76-56 win over MHS. The game was close for the first quarter with Kirksville posting a 16-14 lead after one, but the second quarter saw the Lady Tigers start to pull away behind the stellar play of Eva Danielson. She scored 15 of her game high 32 points in the second to help KHS to a 37-28 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers never looked back.
Alyssa Miller led Mexico in scoring with 24 points.

In the boys contest, Mexico, freshly appointed as #5 in the Class 4 state rankings, held on for a 57-50 win over the previously undefeated Tigers.
MHS led after the first quarter 14-11 and extended to an 11-point lead in the second. At the half, it was Mexico 31-, Kirksville 22.
But then came a furious rally in the second by the Tigers, as they closed to within three before Mexico held them off late for a nice conference road win. Charlie Fisher led all scores with 22 points and Brady Thoenen had a coming out party of sorts with 16
Quincy Bruce also hit four key second half free throws as the Dawgs went 11-of-13 overall at the line.
Kirksville fell to 4-1. Mexico improved to 5-2.
