Boone County Dog Breeder Faces New Lawsuit Over Alleged Neglect and Pet Deaths

A Boone County dog breeder is facing new legal trouble.

Fourteen plaintiffs, including a Nebraska woman, have filed a civil lawsuit against breeder Melissa Sanders and her business, Magnum Opus German Shepherds.

The suit claims Sanders neglected and mistreated dogs in her care.

One plaintiff reportedly says her dog, Mojo, died after losing nearly half his body weight while boarded with Sanders.

The lawsuit seeks damages for the loss of pets, vet bills, and emotional distress.

Sanders is already facing 29 felony counts of animal abuse in a separate criminal case after authorities found dozens of dogs dead or malnourished on her property.
