Centralia fire Friday evening
Boone County firefighters were dispatched Friday evening to a residential structure fire near Centralia. Crews were called to a house on East Marshall Lane around 8 p.m.
The homeowners had a fire going in their fireplace, when they noticed smoke coming out of the wall. Using thermal imaging equipment, firefighters were able to locate the fire in the wall and then used a chainsaw to remove the studs in the wall that were on fire. They fire was contained the fire within 90 minutes.
The house suffered damage to one bedroom, but the residents of the home were not displaced because of the fire and no injuries were reported.
