The Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a revised plan for a new 140-home development near Rock Ridge Road and Highway C.
The subdivision, called Walnut Hills, is proposed by McBride Homes on about 80 acres of farmland.
The project was first approved last summer, but McBride cut the number of homes from 230 after encountering solid rock on the site.
The updated plan adds more than 50 acres of open space with single-family homes of various designs.
Some nearby residents voiced concerns the project will change the area’s quiet character.
The plan now heads to Jefferson City Council for final approval.
