Cole County prosecutors have charged 26-year-old David Jarrett of Jefferson City in connection with a shooting on East Cedar Way last week.
Jarrett faces charges including unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree domestic assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say Jarrett shot a 37-year-old man after an argument inside an apartment, then fled the scene with his one-year-old son before being taken into custody.
Jefferson City Police located the defendant and attempted to stop his vehicle, but Jarrett did not stop.
Jarrett was eventually stopped and taken into custody, and officers located a firearm with two rounds missing from the magazine, according to the statement.
The victim was treated by emergency crews and is in stable condition.
