Columbia man’s sentencing delayed after guilty plea withdrawal

Sentencing has been delayed for a Columbia man tied to a downtown shooting from 2025.
Forty-six-year-old Steven Harris was expected to be sentenced this week, but court documents show he sent a letter to Judge Stephanie Morrell saying he planned to withdraw his guilty plea.
Harris was arrested after a shots-fired incident in downtown Columbia and faced charges including stealing, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action.
He pleaded guilty in January, but the court has now set a new hearing for March 9 at the Boone County Courthouse.
