The Mexico boys basketball team claimed the final championship of the North Central Missouri Conference with a 67-57 win over Hannibal last night.
The Bulldogs jumped to a 17-8 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Charlie Fisher led the Dawgs with 23 points while running mate Kaden Benne scored 21 to lead seven scorers for MHS. Maurice Douglas’s 20 led the Pirates.
Mexico is now 19-7 and the top seed in next week’s Class4 District 8 Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to generate offense with a 83-63 win over the Lady Pirates.
MHS jumped out front 24-13 after the first quarter and continued to pour it on.
Grace Hudson led four players in double digits for Mexico with 26 points.
Alyssa Miller added 16 and Charlie Douglas and Scottie Smith both chipped in 12 points. Hannibal’s Melia Stolte led all scorers with 30 points.
The 13-11 Lady Bulldogs are awaiting the seeding for next week’s Class 4 District 8 Tournament.

the Missouri Tigers baseball team defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 15-1 in a seven-inning run-rule victory at Taylor Stadium.
Mizzou secured the win behind 6.0 dominant innings from freshman pitcher JD Dohrmann and a 5-run third inning.
Freshman JD Dohrmann earned his first career win, allowing only one hit and one run with five strikeouts.
Game 2 is scheduled for 1pm this afternoon

Mizzou men’s basketball dug themselves a hole to start last night’s game against #22 Tennessee, falling behind by 10 early in the game, but the Tigers roared back for a 73-69 win.
TO Barrett started the comeback and led MU with a game high 28 points.
Mark Mitchell added 23 for Mizzou.
MU is now 19-9, and 9-6 in SEC play.
