Jefferson City Councilman Resigns

In Jefferson City, Ward 2 Councilman Aaron Mealy has stepped down from the City Council.

Mealy announced his resignation Monday night in an email to local media, KOMU 8 reports the email cited what he called “trust, honesty, and accountability issues” within city hall administration.

Mealy, who was elected in 2023, previously filed a complaint in 2024 accusing the city of violating Missouri’s Sunshine Law by failing to post meeting notices about employee benefits.

His term was set to run through 2027.
