Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 40-year-old man today after a hit-and-run incident yesterday that left a 9-year-old girl with minor injuries.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Frank Howard Gee IV, of Boone County was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident involving physical injury.
Original witness statements indicated the car was possibly being driven by a woman.
Further investigation revealed that was incorrect, according to the Sheriff’s Office, as 9-year-old Abigail Proffitt, was struck by a car outside her home around 6:30 p.m. Sunday while playing football with her neighborhood friends.
She said the impact threw her into the air and to the ground, and that the vehicle fled after the accident.
