An autopsy will be performed for a 79-year-old inmate at the Jefferson City Correctional Center.
The Missouri Department of Corrections announced that John Brown was pronounced dead at 1:13 am on Sunday, March 22nd.
Brown had been serving a life sentence without parole from Cape Girardeau County for capital murder. He had been incarcerated since March of 1982.
