Boone County Law enforcement agencies are utilizing Spring Break at Columbia Public Schools by hosting active shooter training this week at a currently unoccuppied school building.
More than 40 officers from the Columbia Police Department, the University of Missouri Police Department and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office are completing active shooter response training, according to a social media post from the Police Department.
“This joint training approach helps to ensure that various law enforcement officers in Boone County have the same foundational level of training to better integrate and work together to respond to an active shooter event in our community,” CPD said in the post.
CPD also noted that additional training sessions are planned to take place later this year.
