Expect Major Delays as MoDOT Closes St. Charles Road Bridge
Drivers in Columbia should expect major delays this weekend as MoDOT closes the St. Charles Road bridge over I-70 for demolition.
The closure begins at 7 p.m. Friday and runs through 6 a.m. Monday.
During that time, I-70 will be down to one lane each way, with traffic rerouted up and over the ramps at Exit 131.
MoDOT says backups could last up to an hour on Saturday and Sunday.
Project Director Jeff Gander is urging drivers to slow down and stay alert.
The bridge replacement is part of MoDOT’s “Improve I-70” project, which will expand the interstate to three lanes in each direction by 2030.
