Google and Montgomery County to Meet over Data Center Plans

Technology giant Google is expected to give more details this afternoon in a press conference regarding their plans to build a large-scale data center in Montgomery County.

Local officials have already approved the proposal, and Governor Mike Kehoe is expected to attend the 4 p.m. conference.

Initial plans state the Google data center is proposed on at least 800 acres around I-70 and Hwy 19.

Backers say the developments could bring in millions of dollars of new revenue, in addition to hundreds of construction jobs.

However opponents argue that the development could raise costs, damage the environment, and by supporting AI growth, eliminate human jobs in the future.
