Drivers in Columbia could see the new St. Charles Road bridge reopen ahead of schedule.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says crews poured the bridge’s driving surface this week, marking a major milestone in the project.
The bridge over Interstate 70 was demolished in April and is being rebuilt wider, longer, and higher to accommodate future traffic growth.
MoDOT says work is progressing faster than expected, though several construction phases remain before the bridge can reopen.
The project is part of the statewide Improve I-70 expansion effort.
