Callaway County’s primary election candidates

Callaway County’s Filing for the Aug. 4 primary election closed March 31. Of the nine positions up for election, four candidates filed to run for presiding commissioner.

Three Republicans Larry Robinson, Rob Barnes and Clay Chism will go head-to-head in the primary.
The prevailing Republican candidate will face Mike Conner, a Democrat.

Robinson, who owns a dump truck service, ran for western district commissioner in 2024.
He lost in the primary to Christopher Scott.

Barnes is the manager of fiber and technology for the Callaway Electric Cooperative.
He is also the chair for the Callaway Senior Center and serves on the William Woods University Board of Trustees.

Chism is a program administrator for the City of Auxvasse and the former Callaway County Sheriff from 2017 until he was suspended in 2023 for drinking alcohol on duty and a then-pending driving while intoxicated charge.
Chism’s peace officer’s license was revoked in March 2024 and he resigned a month later.

Prosecuting Attorney Sandra Colhour, who was appointed to her role, will run unopposed.
She was appointed in August 2024 when former prosecuting attorney Ben Miller was elevated to the bench as a Division 13 Judge for the 13th Circuit Court.

The unchallenged incumbent candidates are Callaway County Circuit Clerk Megan Morse, County Clerk Ronda Miller, Recorder of Deeds Christine Kleindienst, Collector Sarah Gladman, Auditor Rylee Page, Division 6 Circuit Judge Chris Wilson, and Division 7 Circuit Judge Sue Crane.
