Columbia Man Charged for Hatchet Threat Wednesday
A Columbia man was behind bars after allegedly threatening to kill someone with a hatchet.
Officers responded to a disturbance at 9:03 a.m. on Wednesday to find 32-year-old Javan Harris standing in a driveway with a hatchet yelling at a victim.
Harris stated that during an argument, he saw the victim go to the kitchen and start moving items around, believing they were going to get a knife, so he retrieved the hatchet from his vehicle, although he also said he never saw the victim with a knife.
A witness said they saw Harris swinging the hatchet around.
Harris was booked into Boone County Jail and charged with two counts of Fourth-Degree Domestic Assault, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of Weapon.
