Columbia Man Arrested in CSAM Investigation

A Columbia man was taken into custody Wednesday following a cyber-investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

53-year-old Stephan Jon Sheltmire II was arrested and charged with Possession of CSAM – Possession of More Than 20 Pics/One Film/Videotape.

The arrest came after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported multiple Child Sex Abuse Materials (CSAM) had been digitally stored on Sheltmire’s Google accounts from August 19 to September 25, 2025.

According to a probable cause statement, a search warrant for the accounts’ data later revealed more than 165 CSAM in his email.
During the arrest, he allegedly admitted to being the owner of the Google accounts containing CSAM.

Sheltmire was was booked into the Boone County Jail without bond.
