Moberly Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Woman
A 51-year-old Moberly man is under arrest, accused of killing 57-year-old Cheryl Gravitt.
Moberly Police say Christopher Viley was arrested Thursday in the 1000 block of Sinnock Avenue and charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities say Viley came out of a residence after a brief standoff and was taken into custody without incident. Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and Moberly Area SWAT Team, assisted with the arrest.
Gravitt was shot and killed Sunday night on Morehead Street. Her family says she was taking out the trash when she was shot.
Her family says the arrest is an emotional step toward justice.
