Missourians Likely to Know Tomorrow Whether They Will Vote on Map, Amendment 6

Tomorrow, Missourians could find out whether they will be able to vote on the new gerrymandered congressional map and the proposed Amendment 6. The Supreme Court of Missouri will hear oral arguments about whether the two proposals are constitutional.

Judges must make their decisions quickly as the November ballot has to be finalized by September 8th.

The new map is designed to give Republicans an extra seat in the US house.

Proposed Amendment 6 would prohibit lawmakers from weakening citizen initiative powers by requiring an 80% majority in both the house and senate to repeal something that voters have already decided on. Currently, it only requires a simple majority.
