Columbia Woman Gets Probation After Stabbing

A Columbia woman has been sentenced to five years of probation after pleading guilty to stabbing another person in May.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nakia Bonaparte pleaded guilty to second-degree assault stemming from a May 4 stabbing in the 1,000 block of Claudell Lane.

According to court documents, Bonaparte pulled a knife during a fight, stabbed the victim and then slashed the tires of the vehicle the victim got into.

Police say the victim suffered lacerations to the chest and arm.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed an armed criminal action charge. Bonaparte was sentenced to five years of probation.
