Two Area Troopers Receive Medal of Valor

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has awarded Public Safety Medals to 24 people for heroic actions in 2025, including two officers in the Country 96 listening area.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers Dustin Harrison and Christopher Winter each received the Medal of Valor, the state’s highest public safety honor.

Harrison was recognized for confronting an armed homicide suspect who shot Randolph County Deputy Nate West. Harrison returned fire, helped West escape and provided medical aid.

Winter was honored for stopping a wrong-way driver on U.S. 54 in Cole County. He used his patrol car, lights and siren to warn traffic before stopping the vehicle. The driver was arrested for D-W-I.
